A small party on the beach in Malibu with a whole cooked pig in a Cuban BBQ box. Marinated for three days, brought to room temp, then cooked for 4 hours until the skin was crisp and the meat fell off the bones. We surfed then ate like cavemen. I played around with a slower shutter speed to give the pics some movement.

One of the benefits of shooting real estate in Malibu is getting access to so many amazing homes. I recently shot this on Malibu Road over a period of three days and my jaw kept hitting the floor every time I set foot inside. The place is seriously sexy!
Over 1200 images were shot ( a lot of bracketing!) and at the end the agents got about 70 selects. Enjoy!
The website can be found here www.24166maliburoad.com with more horizontally oriented images.

First, I want to give praise to the Victoria’s Secret company for doing something so right in the age of social media, Facebook, and blogging when so many companies seem lost and confused on what to do! They completely hit the nail on head with the luncheon they threw last week at the Fig and Olive restaurant in Los Angeles. Here’s why they are so smart. They choose a great restaurant with amazing food and invited the best fashion bloggers, writers, and stylists to attend a private lunch with Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Candice Swanepoel, three top super models from Victorias Secret. The invitees where allowed to spend time with each of the models asking about fashion and their latest campaign to promote the new swimsuit line. Numerous girls were seen shooting photos and uploading them seconds later to their blogs and FB pages while others quickly got updates out to their Twitter accounts when something interesting was said. Also brilliant was Victoria’s Secrets use of Ipads which were placed on the tables where the guest could check out the new shopping interface where swimsuits tops and bottoms could be mixed and matched online. Guests included Jennifer Chan, Lindsay Miller, Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Kathryn Romeyn, Hillary Kerr, Raha Lewis, Marcy Medina, Rachel Zalis, Caroline Cagney, Rebecca Resnick, and Sari Tuschman. Thanks again to Victoria’s Secret for hiring me to be the event photographer!

American Express puts on a fantastic concert series featuring great bands paired with famous directors. The series is called “American Express Unstaged” and I recently got to be the exclusive photographer and shoot Duran Duran for two days at the Mayan Theater in downtown Los Angeles. In attendance was Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, Moby, Marilyn Manson, Kelis, Mark Ronson, and bunch of other characters and fans. I used a Nikon D3 with the 80-200 f2.8 and a D700 with a 200-400 f4. Over 2000 images were shot on the second night and over 200 were syndicated on the Patrick McMullan website. American Express had a great team to work with and I’m hoping to shoot the next concert series.

Most of the shooting I do on the carpet or at parties are done using the same settings again and again….manual on the flash and on the camera if there is a step and repeat or aperture priority with auto flash if roaming. Last night’s job was a little slow slow I was able to shoot a second body with a fast F2.8 lens and an ISO around 800 without flash. Here are the results. The was some color correcting in PS and a few vignettes added but thats it.
